OL2000: The Custom Installation Wizard Deployment Package Does Not Create a New Profile (281620)
The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q281620 SYMPTOMS
When you deploy Outlook 2000 by using the Custom Installation Wizard (CIW), the profile that you specify in the CIW does not deploy to client computers and the client computers current messaging profile settings remain.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because there are messaging profiles that are already configured on the client computers, which do not allow the CIW profile to deploy.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, use the Microsoft Exchange Automatic Profile Generator (Newprof.exe) with a Profile Descriptor File (.prf) to force the creation of new profiles, regardless of whether any profiles are currently present on the client computers. You can enter the Newprof.exe utility on a command line option in the CIW wizard.
