This article was previously published under Q281524

SYMPTOMS

When you use delegates to process Outlook meeting requests, the receipient's copy of the meeting request may appear in the delegate's Inbox and then immediately move to the delegate's Deleted Items folder without appearing to be processed.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the receiver of the meeting request has Outlook configured to automatically process meeting requests and because the delegate of the meeting request has Outlook configured to automatically process requests and responses.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, use the following steps to disable the Automatically Accept Meeting Requests and Process Cancellations option for the receiver and disable the Process requests and responses on arrival option for the delegate.

How to Disable the Automatically Accept Meeting Requests and Process Cancellations Option for the Receiver

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. Click Calendar Options.
  3. Click Resource Scheduling.
  4. Click to remove the Automatically accept meeting requests and process cancellations check box, and then click OK.

How to Disable the Process Requests and Responses on Arrival Option for the Delegate

  1. On the Tools men, click Options.
  2. Click Email Options.
  3. Click Tracking Options.
  4. Click to select the Process requests and responses on arrival check box, and then click OK.

MORE INFORMATION

When the meeting request has already been processed on the receiver's computer, the delegate is not required to process the metting request any further and the meeting request is sent to their Deleted Items folder if the Process requests and responses on arrival option is enabled.
