You cannot access Outlook data file after you change the path locationin Outlook 2002 (280968)

This article was previously published under Q280968 SYMPTOMS When you move your Personal Folders file (.pst) to a
different location, and then try to gain access to the file, the following
message may appear when you click Personal Folders to expand it: Unable to expand the folder.
The set of folders could not be opened. The file C:\path name\Personal Folders.pst could not be found. When you
attempt to change the path in Outlook, the following message may
appear: The file C:\path name\Personal Folders.pst could not be found. When you
click OK, the Create/Open Personal Folders File dialog box displays the original location of the file. You can
change the path in this dialog box by browsing to the new file
location. When you click Personal Folders again, you receive the same error message as at your first
attempt. NOTE: This behavior can occur when you change the location of any data
file. RESOLUTION To resolve this behavior, restart Outlook after you change
the path for the .pst file, and then click Personal Folders again. STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
at the beginning of this article.
