SYMPTOMS

When you try to expand your Hotmail root folder in Outlook 2002, it may take three to four seconds each time that you click the root folder to synchronize it to the directory list.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur when you do not have Microsoft Outlook Express 5.5 installed. Outlook Express 5.5 has a time stamp feature in it that tracks when to synchronize with the directory listing.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, install or upgrade to Outlook Express 5.5.

MORE INFORMATION
