SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade from an earlier version of Microsoft Office 97 or Microsoft Office 2000 to Microsoft Office XP, you may experience the following symptoms:
  • Any system sound assignments resulting from installing an earlier version of the Office Sounds Add-in are lost.
  • The standard Office XP sounds are installed the first time that you open an Office XP program.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs during the upgrade process. During the installation of Office XP, files from the previous versions of Office are removed, including the sound files.
