Cannot Change Source or Channels in Windows Movie Maker (280348)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition

This article was previously published under Q280348

SYMPTOMS

In the Record dialog box in Windows Movie Maker, after you have clicked Configure on the Change Device dialog box for a STB VideoRage Video Capture product, the channel and source changes may revert back to the current setting when you click either the OK or the Apply button.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the drivers shipped with the STB VideoRage Video Capture product are not compatible with DirectShow. (DirectShow provides the underlying services for playback of multimedia streams either from local files or over a network from a server.)

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, close the Record dialog box in Windows Movie Maker. Start the program (shipped with the device) and change the source and channels to the settings from which you want to record. Quit the program, and then open the Record dialog box in Windows Movie Maker. You should now be able to record from the selected source or channel.

MORE INFORMATION

STB no longer provides drivers for this device. STB has been acquired by 3Dfx. You must contact 3Dfx to obtain the most recent drivers.
