SUMMARY

This article describes the behavior of BackOffice Server 2000, Microsoft Internet Acceleration and Security (ISA) Server, and Small Business Server (SBS) 2000 when these programs are installed on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

MORE INFORMATION

You might want to install BackOffice Server 2000 on a computer that is running Windows 2000 Advanced Server to take advantage of the unique features of Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Although you can install BackOffice Server 2000 on a computer that is running Windows 2000 Advanced Server, note that it is a violation of the BackOffice Server 2000 End-User License Agreement (EULA) to use more than four CPUs on the server at any given time.

In addition, BackOffice Server 2000 includes the Standard Edition of the programs, not the Enterprise Edition; therefore, BackOffice Server 2000 is not "cluster aware." If you want to use clustering with any of the component products, you must install the Enterprise Edition of the component product.

Also, the standard version of ISA Server does not allow ISA Server installation to proceed if Setup detects more than four CPUs on the server. By design, you cannot install Small Business Server 2000 on a computer that is running Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
