Print Icon Is Unavailable in the Image Preview Section in My Pictures (279743)

SYMPTOMS

In the My Pictures folder, in the Image Preview section, the Printer icon, which enables you to print the image, may be unavailable for certain image file types, for example .jpg, .bmp, or .gif files.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if a print action is not associated with the image file type.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, add the print action to the file type file association settings. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Start Windows Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
  3. Click the File Types tab, and then click the graphic file extension that the Printer icon is unavailable for.
  4. Click the Advanced button, and then click New.
  5. In the Action box, type Print.
  6. In the Application used to perform action box type the following text (with quotes):

    "C:\Windows\System\Printimg.exe" "%1"

  7. Click OK, click Apply, and then click OK.
The print icon is now available in the Image Preview section.
