Cannot Browse Mailbox with Blank Password Using UP Emulator (279531)

SYMPTOMS

When you use Phone.com's UP phone emulator and attempt to log on to a Mobile Information 2001 Server computer, and you are using an account that has a blank password, you are re-prompted for log on credentials after you type your user name and leave the password blank.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because of an incompatibility with the emulator software.

WORKAROUND

To log on to this account, two options are available:
  • Change the password to a non-blank value.
  • Use a different Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) browser or emulator to log on.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
