WD2000: Unexpected Line Break with ADVANCE Field and Tab Stop (279504)

SYMPTOMS

When you insert an ADVANCE field after a word, press the TAB key, and then type additional text, the word and the text following the field are moved to a new line.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when both of the following conditions are true:
  • The horizontal position that is indicated in the ADVANCE field is in the text that precedes the field.
  • The text that follows the field wraps to a new line.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP-3).
