Access Violation in Inetinfo.exe When Quitting IIS During Heavy Usage (279207)

SYMPTOMS

An access violation may occur in the Inetinfo.exe process when you try to quit Microsoft Internet Information Server version 5.0 while an application is making heavy use of IIS.

This access violation may cause the computer that is running the Inetinfo.exe process to drop out of a testing scenario or it may cause loss of data in the metabase.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because of a problem in the Coadmin.dll file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
