When users view the Microsoft Commerce Server 2000 and Commerce Server 2002 Customer Sales and Customer Spend Summary reports, they may notice that the sales figures do not match.

Users may believe that the "Grand Total" in the Customer Sales report should equal the sum of the "Sales" in the Customer Spend Summary report.
However, this discrepancy exists because the Customer Sales report includes not only the subtotal of products that were ordered, but also taxes and shipping costs that were applied to the order. The Customer Spend Summary report includes only product revenue (that is, the quantity of products that were sold multiplied by the unit price) and does not include any taxes or shipping costs that were applied to a customer's order.
