"Logon Timer" Error Message Displayed at Reconnect (278853)

SYMPTOMS

By using the Idle Session Limit setting under Group Policy on a Microsoft Terminal Services server, you are able to disconnect an idle Terminal Services session after a certain period of time, as well as warn the user that the session is being disconnected.

If the session reaches the allocated time limit and is about to be disconnected, an error message is displayed, informing the user that in X minutes, the disconnect action will be taken. If, after being disconnected, the user reconnects, the "Logon Timer" error message is still displayed.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design: Because there is no way of knowing whether the user is present at the moment that the Terminal Services session is disconnected, Terminal Services displays this error message upon reconnection so that the user knows why the session was disconnected.
