XCLN: Digitally Signed Message Is Received by Wireless Phone with No Signature (278598)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Mobile Information 2001 Server
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q278598 SYMPTOMS
When a message that is signed with a digital signature is sent to a wireless device, the message arrives and can be read on the device. However, there is no indication of the digital signature.
When you open the same message with Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express, the digital signature is indicated.
WORKAROUND
To prevent security issues, do not forward messages that contain a digital signature to a mobile device. If you need to see a digital signature on a message that has already been sent to a wireless device, open the message in Outlook or Outlook Express to verify that the message was signed.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
