SYMPTOMS

When you post a Microsoft Word document that contains keywords to an Outlook folder, the keywords become Outlook Categories.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Word has a Category field, but the contents are not transferred to Outlook.

For example, if you create a Word document with the following keywords

Red, Green, Blue, Yellow

and you click Send To on the File menu, and then click Exchange Folder to post the item to an e-mail folder. When you right-click the message, and then click Categories, the categories Red, Green, Blue and Yellow are associated with the message.
