OL2002: The Digital Dashboard Starter Kit Does Not Install (278123)

SYMPTOMS

When you download the Digital Dashboard Starter Kit and try to run the Digidash.exe file, you may receive the following error message:

Setup has detected that you do not have an Office 2000 family product installed on this computer. Before this download can be installed you must first install an Office 2000 family product. To find out which products are part of the Office 2000 family, go to http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/info/o2kprods.htm

WORKAROUND

Use the following steps to work around this problem:

Install WinZip on your computer if you do not already have it installed. WinZip is available at the following Web site:
http://www.winzip.com
Right-click the Digidash.exe file, and then click Extract to folder. This extracts the two files that make up the executable.
Open the folder that you extracted the two files to, and then double-click the Digidash.msi file. This installs the Digital Dashboard Starter Kit onto your computer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

The Digital Dashboard Starter Kit is an earlier architecture for the Digital Dashboard technology. You should consider using a later version of the Digital Dashboard technology if you plan to build a custom solution.
