The information in this article applies to:

SUMMARY

Microsoft Outlook Bar shortcuts are retained in the folder shortcuts file (.fav) files. You may be able to restore this information from another e-mail profile.

Restoring a .fav file from another e-mail profile may not be desirable if you are not using the same Personal Folders (.pst) file or Microsoft Exchange mailbox. Any shortcuts that point to a folder that does not exist in the current .pst file or Exchange mailbox do not work.

MORE INFORMATION

Use the following steps to restore your Outlook Bar shortcuts:
  1. Find the location and names of the current .fav files.
  2. Rename the current .fav file.
  3. Copy the original .fav file to the current .fav file location.

  5. Start Outlook and click No if prompted.
NOTE: For the purpose of this article, the current .fav file is the file that Outlook is currently using for the profile into which you want to import the Outlook Bar shortcuts. The original .fav file is the file that contains the Outlook Bar shortcut information that you want to restore.
