Sites Are Displayed with INVALID Status in Commerce Host Administrator (277575)

SYMPTOMS

Web sites that are listed in the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Commerce Host Administrator snap-in are displayed as INVALID.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the Site.csc file for the "invalid" Web site has been changed or is missing. This can occur when development updates are made to a production site.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this problem from occurring during development updates, mark the Config\Site.csc file for the Web site as Read Only.

MORE INFORMATION

To reproduce this behavior, rename the Site.csc file for an existing Site Server 3.0 Commerce site to Site.bak, and the attempt to view the site in the MMC Commerce Host Administrator snap-in. The site name is displayed as INVALID.
