BUG: Commerce Server MMC Snap-in Resource Editors Do Not Validate (277288)

SYMPTOMS

The Commerce Server Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in resource editors (Direct Mail, CS Authentication, and App Default Config) do not perform any type of validation.

For example, when you enter an invalid or non-existent path for the Direct Mail log file, Commerce Server does not validate that the path is correct.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Open Commerce Server Manager.
  2. Click to expand the Global Resources folder.
  3. Right-click Direct Mail, and then click Properties.
  4. In the Properties list, click Log Directory.
  5. In the Selected Property Value list, type Booga Booga.
  6. Click Apply, and then click Save.
  7. Re-open the properties to verify that the edits were saved.
