How to Delete a BizTalk Server from a BizTalk Server Group with Receive Functions (275822)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to delete a BizTalk Server from the BizTalk Server Group in the BizTalk Server Administration Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in, you may receive the following error message:
The server cannot be deleted because of a failure returned from the BizTalk Server WMI provider: The MACHINENAME server cannot be deleted because it is the processing server for at least one receive function.

CAUSE

BizTalk Server requires that each receive function is assigned to a processing server.

RESOLUTION

To delete a BizTalk Server from the BizTalk Server Group, you must either delete the receive function or functions that are assigned to that BizTalk Server or reassign the receive function to another BizTalk Server in the same BizTalk Server Group.

To reassign a receive function to another processing server, do the following:
  1. Right-click the receive function that you want to reassign, and then click Properties.
  2. Click the Services tab, and then change the server where the receive function runs to another server in the BizTalk Server Group.
  3. Click OK.

To delete a receive function, perform the following steps:
  1. Right-click the receive function that you want to remove, and then click Delete.
  2. When you are prompted with the "Are you sure you want to delete this item?" message, click Yes.

To delete the BizTalk Server from the BizTalk Server Group:
  1. Right-click the BizTalk Server that you want to remove, and then click Delete.
  2. When you are prompted with the you are prompted with the "Are you sure you want to delete this item?" message, click Yes.
