XADM: Error Message Occurs When Upgrading from Exchange 2000 RC2 (275628)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to upgrade to Exchange 2000 Server Standard Edition from Exchange 2000 Server Release Candidate 2 (RC2) Evaluation Version, when you click Reinstall, you receive the following error message:
The Component Microsoft Exchange Collaboration Services cannot be assigned the action Reinstall because you must use the same edition of Microsoft Exchange Setup as existing installation.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Exchange 2000 Server Standard Edition does not offer the same features as Exchange 2000 Server Enterprise Edition.

Exchange 2000 RC2 Evaluation Version is a version of Exchange 2000 Enterprise Edition. To upgrade to Exchange 2000 Standard Edition from Exchange 2000 RC2 Evaluation Version, you must first upgrade to Exchange 2000 Enterprise Edition.
