Replication Problems with Multi-Valued Attributes in MMS 2.1 (273776)

SYMPTOMS

When you replicate Metadirectory information between Microsoft Metadirectory Services (MMS) servers, multi-valued attributes do not replicate correctly. Specifically, antiquated values are not removed. Because this problem occurs, replicated stores may be left with more multi-valued attribute values than the source.

CAUSE

This problem can occur when there is an error in the Replica.exe program when it is processing a multi-valued attribute flow.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next version of Microsoft Metadirectory Services that contains this hotfix.
