The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition

This article was previously published under Q273681

SYMPTOMS

When you add text to an AutoShape in Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 and then resize or change the scale of the AutoShape, the scale and size of the text are not changed as expected.

This is also the case when you group a text box with an AutoShape and then resize the grouped objects. The AutoShape is resized, but the text box is not.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, cut the AutoShape and paste it back in to the slide as a picture. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. With the AutoShape selected, on the Edit menu, click Cut.
  2. On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
  3. In the Paste Special dialog box, under Paste As, click Picture, and then click OK.

Notice that when you use the sizing handles on the rectangle (now formatted as a picture) to change the scale, the size of the text is also changed proportionately.
