You can import messages, addresses, rules, signatures and accounts from other Apple Macintosh messages, and personal information management (PIM) software in Entourage. After you complete the Microsoft Office 2001 for Macintosh Setup program and start Entourage for the first time, the Entourage Setup assistant starts and asks you to import data. If you do not want to import data, you can import data at a later time by using these same options and capabilities.

How to Import Data By Using the Entourage Setup Wizard

If you want to import data from another program or file when you start Entourage for the first time, use the Entourage Setup Wizard to type your user information, click one of the following import options, and then click the arrow to proceed with the import process.
  • Information from my e-mail program
  • Information from my personal information manager (PIM), for example, contacts, calendar, tasks and notes
  • Information from both my e-mail program and my PIM

How to Import Data Manually

To manually import data in Entourage:
  1. On the File menu, click Import.
  2. In the Begin Import dialog box, click the option for the program or file from which you want to import data, and then click the arrow to proceed to the next page.
  3. In the Ready to Import dialog box, click the items that you want to import. The import options vary depending on your program type and the program capabilities. In all programs, all options are selected by default.
  4. Click the arrow to finish the import procedure.

Programs from Which Entourage Can Import and Data Support

Entourage can import data from the following e-mail programs:
  • Microsoft Outlook Express (any version)
  • Qualcomm Eudora (any version)
  • Netscape Communicator (version 4.0 or later)
  • Claris Emailer (version 2.0v3 only)
Entourage can import data from the following PIM programs:
  • Now Contact
  • Now Up-To-Date
  • Claris Organizer
  • Palm Desktop
Entourage can import data from the following text and data file types:
  • Tab or comma delimited text files
  • .mbox formatted text files
