OLEXP: Media Files Do Not Display or Are Missing with E-mail Message (273464)

SYMPTOMS

When you receive an e-mail message that includes a media file that is embedded as part of the message body and not as an attachment, you do not receive the media file or Outlook Express displays the media file as "<<...OLE_Obj...>> <<...OLE_Obj...>>" in the message body.

CAUSE

This problem can occur because the media file is embedded into an Outlook Rich Text formatted message.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, send the message with the media file as a file attachment.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
