SYMPTOMS

Memory leaks or connectivity problems may occur on some Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) servers in high-stress situations.

CAUSE

WLDAP32!LdapParallelConnect may leak socket handles when the Connect function does not work. This could happen, for example, if there were no more ports, or in low-memory conditions. When this occurs, LDAP may not clean up its socket connections correctly, leaving them open.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
