XADM: No Directory Notification When You Mount a New Public Folder Store (273179)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q273179

SYMPTOMS

Exchange 2000 Installable File System (IFS) allows you to access your mailbox and public folders by using methods such as a command prompt or Microsoft Windows Explorer. If you create a new general-purpose public folder store, it may not be visible immediately in Windows Explorer while you are accessing the IFS drive.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Windows does not dynamically refresh to display the updated contents of the drive when the public folder store is created and mounted.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, manually refresh the window to view the updated contents of the IFS drive. To refresh the contents of the Windows Explorer window, either press the F5 key on the keyboard, or click Refresh on the View menu.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

MORE INFORMATION

The newly created public folder store is not visible in Windows Explorer until you manually refresh that window.
