XADM: Delivery Address on an Undeliverable Notification Is Incorrect in Preview Mode (273083)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server

This article was previously published under Q273083

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Preview option to view an undeliverable notification, the name of the person that the original message was sent to is displayed in the To box instead of the name of the person who is receiving the undeliverable notification.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

MORE INFORMATION

The following scenario is an example of this issue:

User1 sends a message to a User2. User2's mailbox limits are set to only receive messages that are less than 2K in size. When User1 sends User2 a message that is 5K in size, User1 receives a message from the System Administrator. When User1 views the message in the Preview window, the message is addressed to User2. However, if User1 double-clicks the message to open it, the message is in the correct format:
From: System Administrator
To: User1
Subject: Undeliverable: Delivery Status Notification (Failure)
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

      Subject:
      Sent:	11/5/00 11:26 AM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

      Bill on 11/5/00 11:26 AM
The message was not delivered because it is larger than the current system limit. Create a
shorter message body or remove attachments and try sending it again.
