Save and Save As Commands Missing from Windows Media Player 7 and 7.1 (273006)

SYMPTOMS

When you click the File menu to try to save a file in Windows Media Player 7 or 7.1, the Save and Save As commands are missing.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Windows Media Player 7 and 7.1 do not use the Save and Save As commands to save files.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, use any of the following methods:

Method 1

In Microsoft Internet Explorer, right-click the file you want to save, and then click Save As.

Method 2

Configure your computer to use Windows Media Player 6.4 as the default media player:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type mplayer2, and then press ENTER.
  2. On the View menu, click Options, and then click the Formats tab.
  3. Click Select All, and then click OK.
NOTE: If you have saved files that are not recognized by Windows Media Player 7 or 7.1, start Windows Media Player 7 or 7.1, point to Add to Library on the File menu, and then click Add File or Add URL.
