XADM: You Are Unable Add a Domain User to a Public Folder's Directory Rights Permissions (271326)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the following steps to add a domain user to a public folder's "Directory rights" permissions, the added user permission may not be applied:
  1. Start Exchange System Manager.
  2. Click a public Folder, right-click that public folder, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to open the properties.
  3. Click the Permissions tab, and then click Directory rights.
  4. Add a domain user in the list.
  5. Click Apply, and then click OK.
  6. Click Directory rights again.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, after you close the Directory rights dialog box and click OK, click Apply in the public folder properties.

To view the updated list of users, open the properties of the public folder, click the Permissions tab, and then click Directory rights again.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
