Visio2000: Integrated Circuit Component Building Block Shapes Do Not Allow Editing on Pins (271227)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to edit the pin numbers on any of the building block shapes in the Integrated Circuit Component stencil, the text is locked, and you receive the following error message:

Shape protection and/or layer properties prevent complete execution of this command

CAUSE

Integrated Circuit Component building block shapes do not allow editing on pins.

RESOLUTION

To edit the pin numbers, you must first unlock the text. To do so, follow these steps:

Select the shape, and then select the pin number.
On the Window menu, click Show ShapeSheet to open the shapesheet for the pin.
Under Protection, change LockTextEdit from 1 to 0.

Repeat steps 1 through 3 for each pin number that you want to edit.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
