SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to create an Instant Messaging object within the Protocols section of Exchange System Manager, the Next button may be unavailable after you select a newly created Microsoft Internet Information Service (IIS) Web site to enable Instant Messaging against.

CAUSE

There is a space contained within the name of the Host header that is defined during the creation of a new Web site. This information can be found in the following location:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Services Manager.
  2. Right-click the newly created Web site, and then click Properties.
  3. Click the Website tab, and then click Advanced.
  4. Verify that a space exists within the Host Header Name field.

RESOLUTION

Remove and recreate the current Host Header name that contains a space with another Host Header name that does not contain a space, to be used in conjunction with Instant Messaging.
