PRB: Error When You Export COM+ Application to Windows NT-based Computer (270678)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install an .msi file that is exported from a Microsoft Windows 2000-based computer to a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer, you may receive the following error message:
Component Services (COM+ 1.0) are not installed on this computer. This installation requires Component Services in order to complete successfully. Component Services are available on Windows 2000.

CAUSE

This error occurs when you export the application as a "Server Application".

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, export the application as an "Application proxy" when you export from a COM+ (Windows 2000-based) computer to a computer that is running Windows NT 4.0 or earlier.
