OFF2001: Installer Fails to Install Office 2001 in Selected Folder (269898)

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Macintosh Office Installer to install Office 2001 to a folder other than the default folder, the program is installed in a different folder than you expect.

RESOLUTION

To install Office 2001 into a specific folder on your hard disk, you must open and then select the folder that you want, so that the folder name appears in the Select the installation folder text box.

To install Microsoft Office 2001 into a specific folder (for example, the Applications folder), follow these steps:
  1. Insert the Microsoft Office 2001 CD-ROM into your computer's CD-ROM drive.
  2. Double-click the Microsoft Office Installer.
  3. Click the Install Location text box, and then click Select Folder.
  4. In the folder list, click Applications, and then click Open.

    Below the folder list, you may see the following prompt:

    Click Select to select the folder "Applications".

  5. Click Select to confirm your choice, and then return to the Office Installer dialog box.

    Notice that, under Install Location, there is a statement similar to the following:

    The folder "Microsoft Office 2001" will be created in the folder "Applications" on the disk "Macintosh HD"

  6. Click Install and follow the directions on the screen.
