SUMMARY

Due to changes in the development cycle for the functionality of Distributed Partitioned Views, SQL Server Books Online contains some incorrect information on this subject.

Distributed Partitioned Views, in the released product (SQL Server 2000), do give the user the ability to update the view's primary key constraint (the partitioning column). If necessary, the row is automatically moved from one of the partitions to another as dictated by the partitioning constraints.

This is in contrast to earlier implementations of the product (pre-product release) and to some of the documentation found in Books Online about this topic.
