PPT2001: PowerPoint Movies Do Not Play When Double-Clicked in Movie Player (268394)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2001 for Macintosh

This article was previously published under Q268394

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to view a PowerPoint Movie in the Apple QuickTime Player by double-clicking the starting frame, the movie does not play. If you click the Play button, the movie plays.

This behavior is different from that of other QuickTime movies in which you can double-click the first frame of the movie to make it start playing.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because PowerPoint Movie files that are created by saving a presentation contain a Sprite track. This feature prevents you from playing a movie by double-clicking the movie window.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
