XADM: Unable To Choose the Target Domain Controller When Creating a Recipient Update Service (268312)

SYMPTOMS

When you create a Recipient Update Service by using Exchange System Manager, you do not have the option to choose the target domain controller that the Recipient Update Service connects to when the Recipient Update Service updates Active Directory.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, after you create the Recipient Update Service, change the target domain controller:
  1. Start Exchange System Manager; click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
  2. Click to expand the Recipients container, right-click the Recipient Update Service that you want to change, and then click Properties.
  3. On the General tab, click Browse next to Windows 2000 Domain Controller.
  4. Click the domain controller to which you want the Recipient Update Service to connect.
  5. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
