Works 6: Clip Art Does Not Appear When You Open Document (268199)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a document that is supposed to contain a clip art image, the document opens, but the clip art image does not appear.

If the document is a Word Processor document, a frame appears instead of the clip art image. If the document is a Database document, neither the image nor a frame appears.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you install Works 2001 using the Complete installation option, create a document in Works, and then reinstall Works 2001 using the Minimum installation option.

The image does not stay with a saved document as it did in versions of Works prior to Works 2001.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, using the Complete installation option:
  1. Insert the installation CD-ROM.
  2. Click Start, and then click Run.
  3. In the Open box, type drive:\setup.exe, where drive is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
  4. Click OK.
  5. When the Welcome back screen appears, click Next.
  6. When the Options screen appears, click Change installation, and then click Next.
  7. Click Complete installation, and then click Next.
  8. Follow the instructions of the Installation Wizard to complete the installation.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
