Full Path Name Appears in File Name Box When You Save Web Source in Internet Explorer (267391)

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Web page in Internet Explorer (IE), view the source, and then use the Save As function to save the file, the full path name for the temporary Internet Explorer folder appears in the File name box, instead of just the file name. Specifically, this happens when you use the Save As function from Notepad.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, you can navigate to a different folder; the full path name disappears, leaving only the file name. You can also type a new file name in the box and then save to the default Save in folder.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
