The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Pocket PC with Windows CE 3.0

This article was previously published under Q267370

SYMPTOMS

You may not be able to install the trial version of Bubblets that is included with the Pocket PC Expansion Fun Pack.

When you run Setup from the CD-ROM and use the default Save this program to disk setting, the installation seems to proceed normally. Setup polls the Windows CE-based device for installed programs. After the poll for programs is finished, the screen flashes and the installation stops with no error messages. The End User License Agreement is not displayed, and you do not see an installation progress bar.

In addition, the Add/Remove Programs tool does not display Bubblets as an installed program.

CAUSE

The installation routine for Bubblets in the Pocket PC Expansion Fun Pack does not properly install the program.

RESOLUTION

To install Bubblets properly, extract the compressed Bubblets.exe file from the Pocket PC Expansion Fun Pack to the hard disk, and then run Setup from the hard disk:
  1. In My Computer, browse to the following folder on the Pocket PC Expansion Fun Pack CD-ROM, where CD-drive is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive:

    CD-drive:\Download\Games\Bubblets

  2. Right-click Bubblets.exe, and then click Extract To.
  3. Click an existing folder, or create a new folder named Bubblets on your hard disk in which to extract (or uncompress) the contents of the Bubblets.exe file.
  4. Using My Computer, browse to the folder you selected in step 3, and then run Setup.exe.
NOTE: If you are running Microsoft Windows 95, there may not be an Extract To command in step 2. If this is the case, you must use a third-party program (such as Winzip) to extract the compressed files.
