DMA Is Not Automatically Enabled in Windows Millennium Edition (266908)

SYMPTOMS

Direct Memory Access (DMA) is not automatically enabled after you install Windows Millennium Edition (Me) on a computer with a DMA compliant CD-ROM and hard disk.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, enable DMA in Device Manager:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
  2. Click the Device Manager tab.
  3. Double-click your DMA compliant CD-ROM to view its properties, click the System tab, and then click to select the DMA check box.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Double-click your DMA compliant hard disk to view its properties, click the System tab, and then click to select the DMA check box.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Restart your computer.
