Terminal Services Server Does Not Restart with Restart Command from a Client Session (265419)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to restart a Windows 2000-based Terminal Services server from a client session by clicking Start, clicking Shut Down, and then clicking Restart, the server may not restart. Instead, it may shut down.

CAUSE

Winlogon.exe does not restart the server on a restart command that is issued from a Terminal Services client. When Terminal Services is installed, Winlogon.exe orders the server to shut down instead of restart.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
