SUMMARY

The Mkvb212.exe patch solves a problem that prevents the Visual Basic software development kits (SDKs), which were exported by Platform Builder version 2.12, from recognizing and installing on eMbedded Visual Basic version 3.0. Without the Mkvb212.exe patch, the SDKs will install only on systems with Windows CE Toolkit for Visual Basic 6.0; otherwise, the following error message may occur and the install may fail:
Visual Basic 6.0 must be installed to successfully install the VBCE Platform SDK.

This document provides late-breaking or other information that supplements the SDK Roller for Visual Basic in Microsoft Platform Builder 2.12.

Requirements

Microsoft Windows CE Platform Builder 2.12 requires the new release of the SDK Roller for eMbedded Visual Basic. This patch allows the SDKs exported from Platform Builder 2.12 to be installed and used by eMbedded Visual Basic 3.0.

Prior to installing this SDK patch, you must have previously installed Microsoft Windows CE Platform Builder version 2.12.

Installation

Before installing the SDK Roller for Visual Basic, you must perform the following procedures:
  1. Copy the Mkvbsdk.ini and Mkvbsdk.exe files to the <Platform Builder>\2.12\Cepb212\Bin folder.
  2. Copy Vbsetup.exe to the <Platform Builder>\2.12\Makesdk folder.
  3. Export your Platform SDK for Visual Basic as you normally would from within the Platform Builder IDE.

Known Problems

Setup and Installation: You must install eMbedded Visual Basic 3.0 first before installing a Rolled SDK from Platform Builder 2.12.
