SYMPTOMS

With a Yamaha DS1 sound card, you may notice static while playing a DVD movie with either WinDVD 2000 or PowerDVD version 2.55.

This behavior is caused by the Yamaha DS1 WDM driver installed in Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me).

To verify that you have the WDM drivers loaded, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the System icon.
  3. Click the Device Manager tab.
  4. Scroll down to the Sound, Video and Game controller and then click plus symbol next to the Sound, Video and Game controller.
A Yamaha Native DS1 WDM driver is listed when you have the WDM drivers installed.
