SYMPTOMS

When you open Htmlhelp.htm, you receive the following message:

Security Warning

WARNING: The authenticity of this content cannot be verified, therefore it cannot be trusted.

Problem listed below:

A certificate (signing or issuer) has expired.
Do you want to install and run "Windows Local Help" signed on and unknown date/time and distributed by:
Microsoft Corporation

When you click the "Microsoft Corporation" hyperlink in the security warning dialog, the certificate dates that appear, "Valid from 5/9/1997 to 5/10/1998," are correct.

RESOLUTION

You can safely ignore this security warning. If you click Yes on the Security Warning message, Windows Help opens.

WORKAROUND

To avoid seeing the security warning, open Windows Help from a different location. To do this, click Start, and then click Help.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition.
