FP2000: Edit Option Is Unavailable in Internet Explorer (265065)

SYMPTOMS

When you browse a Web page using Microsoft Internet Explorer, the Edit with Microsoft FrontPage option on the File menu may be unavailable (dimmed).

RESOLUTION

This behavior can occur when the following conditions are true:
  • The Content Expiration option is selected on the Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) computer. - and -

  • The Content Expiration option is set to expire immediately.

WORKAROUND

At a minimum, set Content Expiration to one minute if you want the option to edit the Web page using FrontPage Editor.

To set the Content Expiration option, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click the virtual server in the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), and then click Properties.
  2. Click the HTTP Headers tab, and set the expiration option to one minute.
You also can edit the page if the Content Expiration option is cleared (turned off).
