FP2000: Changes to the Value of a Hidden Field Are Not Saved As Expected (265029)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft FrontPage 2000, if you edit the value of a hidden field and then save the web, the new value may not be saved as expected.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Preserve existing HTML option (under the HTML Source tab of Page Options) is selected when you save a file.

RESOLUTION

To save changes that you make to the value of hidden fields, click the Normal tab in Page view, and then follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Page Options.
  2. Click the HTML Source tab, and then click to select the Reformat using the rules below option.
  3. Click OK.
NOTE: You can also edit the value directly by clicking the HTML tab, or remove the hidden field, save the page, and then enter a new hidden field with the new value.
