PPT2000: Highlight Click and Highlight When Mouse Click Action Settings Unavailable (264768)

When you want to change the action settings for a text box (click Action Settings on the Slide Show menu), the following settings are not available:
- The Highlight click check box on the Mouse Click tab
- The Highlight when mouse over check box on the Mouse Over tab
CAUSE
The Highlight click and Highlight when mouse over settings apply to the fill of the text box, and not to the text. These settings do not work in a text frame that has different hyperlinks or action settings on individual words.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, select the text frame itself by clicking its border, before you click Action Settings on the Slide Show menu. NOTE: For this to work, you must also apply a fill to the text frame. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Format menu, click Text Box, and then click the Colors and Lines tab.
- Under Fill, click the color of your choice (other than No Fill) from the Color palette. Click OK.
When in use, the highlight will only appear briefly.
