Incremental Builds Do Not Pick Up the Addition of ROBOTS Meta Tag During File Crawl (263892)

SYMPTOMS

When you add the <meta name="ROBOTS" content="NOINDEX"> meta tag to a document, and then run an incremental build of Site Server Search, the document is not removed from the catalog as expected. The removal of the meta tag is picked up by an incremental build, and the document is added to the catalog as expected.

WORKAROUND

To remove the document, perform a full rebuild of the catalog.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Site Server service pack that contains this hotfix.
