OL2000: Error Message: There Was a Problem Starting Microsoft Schedule+ (263883)

SYMPTOMS

After you install and configure Outlook 2000 and try to start Microsoft Schedule Plus 7.0 by clicking New Contact, you receive the following error message:
There was a problem starting Microsoft Schedule+
When you double-click the Outlook 2000 icon on your desktop, you receive the following error message:
Unable to open your default e-mail folders. An unexpected error has occurred. MAPI was unable to load the information service PSTPRX.dll. Be sure the service is correctly installed and configured.

CAUSE

Outlook is installed in the Internet Mail Only (IMO) mode in the registry.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, Outlook must be in the Corporate or Workgroup (CW) mode for Schedule+ to function normally. To change the mode that Outlook uses, change the registry value in the MapiPresent registry key from 1 to 0.

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

To change the registry value in the MapiPresent registry key from 1 to 0:
  1. Quit Outlook.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. Locate and click the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Schedule+\Application\MapiPresent

  4. Right-click the MapiPresent key, and then click Modify.
  5. Change value in the Value Data box from 1 to 0, and then click OK.
  6. Quit Registry Editor.
After you modify the registry and start Schedule+, you are prompted to for setup information even though you have used Outlook. To finish the setup procedure:
  1. Double-click Schedule+.
  2. When you are prompted to either join a group or stand alone, click the option that you want.
  3. When you are prompted to either create a new.scd file or to locate one that already exists, click Locate file, and then click the .scd file that you used previously on your local hard disk.
